He loves speding time with his family, and one of their favorite things is to go to the movies. They also enjoy traveling, kayaking, and fishing. Doug's favorite band is U2, has been to several of their concerts, and has a great vinyl collection. He and his family are K.C. Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals fans!
Pat and his wife Pam are long time residents of Alma and members of the AUMC. They are the parents of two grown children, Garrett of Charleston, AR. and Brock of Conway, AR. The AUMC has been home to the family for many years where they have been blessed by a loving church family. Pat, a retired educator has served the church in various ministries including Liturgist, Adult Sunday School Teacher, and Administrative Board. Pat can even be seen on his lawn mower cleaning up the church grounds from time to time. He is also active in the area serving on the Board of Directors for the Alma Area Boys & Girls Club and the Western Arkansas Counseling and Guidance Center. He attributes his spiritual growth to those past and present leaders of the church who have encouraged him to get out of his spiritual comfort zone and use what ever gifts he has to the glory of God.
Meet Linda Lanning, the new Music Director at the Alma UMC. Music has been a vital part of Linda’s life as long as she can remember. Although this is the first opportunity she has had to be a church pianist and choir director, she has filled in at these positions several times over the years. Linda began playing the piano when she was 5 yrs old, accompanying choirs and soloists since high school. She has also sung in church and community choirs and select groups since high school, also leading singing on several occasions. Linda grew up in a small town, and small United Methodist church, near Springfield, MO, and has been active in the church at the local, district and conference levels throughout Missouri. She met her husband, Paul, at a Lay Speaker Training event when he was just entering the ministry and moved with him as he was appointed to various churches across the state. When he retired in 2017, they moved to Van Buren, AR, to be near their son and his family. Linda worked for 26 years in computer software development for AT&T in Kansas City, MO. After retiring, she worked as a library assistant at libraries in Kansas City and in southwest Missouri. And now she has “failed” retirement again, taking on another new endeavor! Linda is excited and thrilled to be part of the Alma UMC staff, being able to use the talents and skills God has given her to be in ministry with the congregation.
